The financial commitment necessary to proceed with the Strategic Plan developed in 2008, although reasonable for a project of this scale, seems out of reach for our donors given the current global financial challenges. For this reason the board has proposed to divide the strategic plan into financially independent but functionally interconnected projects to allow for incremental growth.
The first step will be to launch CNA Web TV (Internet Channel). Although this mode of brodcast is not ideal for the North African context where internet connections are neither secure nor well-developed, this step would enable us to gain valuable experience in direct broadcasting and maintain important relationships with our partners. It would be an excellent preparation for independent broadcasting by satellite. Funding for this first phase is nearly complete, which, Lord willing, should allow us to install the hardware and software for internet broadcasting hopefully in early 2010. Already our technicians are at work developing a centralized system for all our programs, the majority of which have already been uploaded for video on demand to our website. These steps are important preparation for Web TV broadcasts.
The second step is to acquire all the necessary equipment for satellite broadcast which, Lord willing, could be launched in the second half of 2010.The final phase will be to develop the necessary infrastructure for the channel with production studio and offices, which will equip CNA to produce the quality and quantity of programs for a wholly dedicated channel. With these resources we will also be able to offer technical and logistical support to other like minded organizations to bless the Church in North Africa. We hope to see this step begin in September 2010 with a target for completion in September 2013.
The CNA team is working on another front: leadership development and training in North Africa for the continued growth of the local Church. To do this, CNA is partnering with the organization Bild which has a 35 year history of conducting solid, well-structured, biblical training around the world in conjunction with the local Church. An inital 5 year project is already underway.
CNA or Channel North Africa, is an association that started in the year 2000 by the efforts of several partners who wished to broadcast the Gospel into North Africa using audiovisual materials. The vision of CNA is to see the peoples of North Africa reconciled with God, regenerated and transformed by the Gospel in the communities in which they live.
